Jack Allison Young

Jack Allison Young, age 83, longtime resident of Geneva, passed away at Michealsen Health Center on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 surrounded by family.

He was born December 31, 1931 in Aurora, IL, son of Neal Allison and Gladys (Wicks) Young.

Jack graduated from East Aurora High School in 1950 and received his BS in Journalism from University of Illinois in 1954. He served his country in the US Navy. Jack then worked for several years at Caterpillar Tractor in Peoria. He was a life agent for Equitable Life. Opening his own investment and financial advising firm, Jack A. Young & Associates, Jack simultaneously worked as a registered representative, general principal and financial principal of his own security broker-dealer firm and was president and CEO of Chartered Planning, Ltd. Jack served as Chairman for Equitable National Agent’s Forum, was a member of their Hall of Fame and a life-member of the Million Dollar Round Table. Jack served as president of the Aurora Association of Life Underwriters. He was a longtime active member of Fox Valley Presbyterian Church serving as an Elder and delegate of their General Assembly. He was also president of Tri-City Family Services, chairman of Delnor Community Healthcare Foundation and chairman of Delnor Community Health System when Delnor & Community Hospitals merged and the new hospital was built.  As well as being a founding board member of the Kane County Bar Foundation Jack is listed in Marquis Who’s Who in Business & Finance, Who’s Who in the U.S. and Who’s Who in the World.  Jack was also an avid golfer and served as president of Geneva Golf Club and was a member of Geneva Lions Club. With all his activities, Jack found his greatest joy was making memories with his family.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Virginia “Ginny” (Dawson); children Amy Young of Oregon, WI and Andrew (Megan) of Geneva; grandchildren Nicholas, Matthew and Ethan Cumblad, Kelly O’Brien and Marlee, Andrew “AJ” and Samuel Young; and many other dear relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Patricia and Cora.

Funeral services for Jack will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 11:00 am at Fox Valley Presbyterian Church, 227 Eastside Drive, Geneva, Rev. Melinda Hinners, officiating.

Visitation will be held Saturday October 3 from 9:00 am until the time of the service at Fox Valley Presbyterian Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Tri City Family Services, 1120 Randall Court, Geneva 60134 will be appreciated.
