Harry L. Rooker, III, age 86, of Batavia, formerly of Geneva, passed peacefully Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Michaelson Health Care Center after a brief illness.
He was born February 26, 1936, in Elgin, the son of Harry and Ruby (Wiese) Rooker II.
Harry graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology with a degree in mechanical engineering. He spent most of his career designing and selling conveyor systems for large warehouses. He was also an entrepreneur in his retirement. Harry was passionate about his family, his faith, and his friends. He had numerous hobbies: flyfishing, classical music, travel, cooking, French wine, reading and gardening. He was a lifelong learner, and a student of the bible.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years Betty (Kenyon); children Laure (Scott) McKenna of New York, Daniel (Renee) of North Carolina, and Jill (Mark) DiCicco of Batavia; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, brother Philip (Nancy) of Elgin; and many other dear relatives and friends.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, sister Merle Jo Jaskula, and his son Matthew who passed away in 1993.
A memorial service for Harry will be held in August at Chapelstreet Church, 2300 South Street, Geneva.
Private burial will be held at Bluff City Cemetery in Elgin.
