Gudrun "Anna" (Johnson) Kline

Gudrun “Anna” Kline, age 95, of Geneva, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at Bria of Geneva, where she resided for many years.

She was born August 30, 1926, in Sweden, the daughter of Bertil and Freda Johnson. The family immigrated to Batavia when Gudrun was a year old. She grew up in Batavia and lived in Geneva for more than 60 years, where she was known by friends and family as “Goodie.”

Gudrun worked as a cashier at Jewel when it was in downtown Geneva, as well as at Arthur Andersen in St. Charles before she retired. She faithfully read the local newspapers that she would pick up at the Newsstand in Geneva, then visit with locals over a cup of coffee. With a great sense of humor, others would join her when her “cackling” laughter would begin.

She is survived by her brother Ralph (Gloria) Johnson of Stoughton, WI; nieces Marcia (Mike) Hanlon of Batavia; Anne and Beth Johnson, Kathleen (Pat) Klinkner, and Karen (Rob) Gleason, all of Madison, WI; nephew Brennan (Trudi) Johnson of Stoughton, WI; along with all of their children, as well as other relatives in Sweden and dear friends.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Robert, as well as a twin sister (in infancy) and her older sisters, Birgit Carlson from Geneva and Ingrid Svikeris in Sweden.

A graveside service for Anna will be held Wednesday, January 19, 10:30 am, at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Winfield.
