Frank Giampoli Obituary

Frank Joseph Giampoli passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Delnor Hospital.

He was born April 8, 1950, in Chicago, the son of Joseph and Anna (Olivieri) Giampoli.

Frank is survived by his beloved wife Lori of 37 years. Together they had a loving family including children Ian Woodhouse, Andrea Giampoli, and Danielle Macchia, and their spouses Brooke Felts, Lee Lowenthal, and Chris Macchia. Frank loved his grandchildren Declan Woodhouse, Micah Lowenthal, and Dominic and Luca Macchia.

Frank is the cherished brother of Marie (Anthony) Rossi, Joan (Gerald) Broz, Elaine (Dr. Michael) Cichon, John Giampoli and Pat (James) Diya. Frank is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Frank was a compassionate attorney who practiced in Kane County for 46 years, including 18 years as a public defender. He was recognized for his generosity as a long-time fundraiser for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. He loved to sail and spent his summers on Lake Michigan aboard his sailboat Jahazi. He raced 24 Chicago to Mackinac races and won or placed in many Chicago area races. Jahazi won the 2020 Boat of the Year in its racing section. Frank’s legacy in the sailing community includes his deeply loyal and appreciative crews as he was known for his genuine kindness and a wealth of knowledge that he was always willing to share. He was happiest surrounded by the people he loved, but also found joy in quiet moments. He loved to travel and be outdoors, and always found time to enjoy walks in the woods, starry nights camping, and the reflection of the moon on the water.
