Eileen M. Springer, nee Davis, 97, died Monday, January 27, 2025 morning after a blessed, joy-filled life.
Born Feb. 24, 1927, Eileen could tell stories of all-things Irish while living on Chicago’s north side with Great Grams Eileen and her sister Coletta.
On September, 1947, Eileen married John (Jack) Springer and loved living in Geneva as an active member of St. Peter Catholic Parish, where she organized after-funeral lunches for church members, and school activities for her six children as well as helping at St. Vinnie’s thrift shop.
One of her many joys was watching her kids make their way through Catholic grade school, high school and their college days.
As she watched the family grow with added in-laws and her beloved 17 grandkids and 11 great-grandkids, with another on the way, she recently wished she could live longer to see them into adulthood, too.
For many years, she lived very actively and much-loved in St. Charles with her daughter Eileen’s family. An aficionado of white Zinfandel, Eileen had her hand on the door, waiting for the next adventure. Oftentimes, that included anything to do with her beloved Frank Sinatra, whom she met as a Bobbysoxer when he bumped into her and said, “Hey, Shortie!” That began a lifelong fan club of one.
She is survived by children John (Kitty) of Texas, Bob (Barb) of Ohio,Jim (Kathy) of Wisconsin, Tom (Michele) of Bartlett, Eileen (Scott)of St. Charles and daughter in law Ava of Ohio. Also surviving are grandchildren Jack, Katie and Patsy, William, Kaylan and Paul, Kyla and Anna, Daniel, Dustin and Dawn, Evan and Caitlin, Sean, Ryan, Colin and Erin. She was so happy to see great grandkids as well, including: Sammie and Max(with a sibling on the way!), Marian (M) and Lily, Ella and Jude, June, James and Emma, Evelyn and Anderson.
She is preceded in death by her Jack, one son, Bill and Jack’s brother, Tom Boyle.
