Edward J. Valach

Edward J. Valach, age 94, of St. Charles, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at home with his loving family by his side.

 He was born September 30, 1927, in Cicero, the son of Edward and Anna Valach.

 Edward was a loving husband to Lillian, his wife of 58 years, a treasured parent to Alan and Rochelle, a doting grandfather to Lilly Marie and a friend to all who met him. He was everyone’s Grandpa.

 He was a Marine who served during World War II and traveled the world in the service and beyond. Edward had a heart of gold and lived his life to the fullest. 

 He is survived by his children Alan of Brookfield and Rochelle Smith of St. Charles; granddaughter Lilly Marie; Rochelle’s late husband Jeff’s children Ryan (Rachel) of Elgin, Matt (Vannessa) of Hampshire, and Pat (Bree) of Sycamore; nephew Tim (Moon) Balin and children Isabelle, Chase, and Ingrid; niece Tina (Frank) Messina and children Max, Mitch, and Maley; and his best friend, his dog Lucky.

 Edward was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Valerie and Rosalie; son-in-law Jeff Smith who passed away in 2017, and his loving wife Lillian (Novak) who passed away in 2012.

 Funeral Prayers for Edward will be held Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 9:00 am at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva proceeding to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 400 Cedar Street, St. Charles for Celebration of Funeral Mass at 10:00 am with Msgr Daniel Deutsch Celebrant

 Interment will be held at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.

 Visitation will be held Monday, November 15 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home with a service at 7:45 pm.
