Edward “Len” Urban Jr., age 81, of Oswego, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Delnor Hospital in Geneva surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on February 22, 1944, in Chicago to Edward and Evelyn (Morgan) Urban.
Len was a proud working member of IBEW Local 701 for over four decades. His real passion was working with youth and being around people. He coached youth soccer, was heavily involved in both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts; leading through all the levels including attending Philmont Training Center twice, and loved being a part of the tight-knit community his church provided him, which led him to Sports Camp. Sports Camp became such a home to his heart and allowed him a place to touch more lives than we can truly count. His influence and impact on youth is still being vocalized by those youth, now adults, today. He loved sharing his life and his passions with others; from his holiday fudge deliveries to planning lunches with his Downers Grove classmates. Len was an avid sports fan. He would spectate any sporting event and loved to watch competition. His Chicago teams both thrilled him and challenged his patience and faith. But his grandkids were his greatest love of all and he passionately attended every activity and milestone and found ways to make new friends along the way. Papa will be greatly missed.
Len is survived by his children Scott (Jenny) Urban of Geneva and Marc Urban of Wisconsin; grandchildren Madison, Griffin, Shae and Alex.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
