Dorothy M. Waldschmidt, age 88, of Geneva, passed away on Friday, May 4, at Delnor Hospital in Geneva, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on September 30, 1935, in Streator, the daughter of Michael and Cecilia (Bain) Dutko.
Dorothy leaves behind so many cherished memories and will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Family always came first and she found her greatest joy in spending time with loved ones. Dorothy was known for her love of reading, crime shows, casinos and the Chicago Bulls. She was a faithful member of St. Peter’s Church. Dorothy’s culinary creations delighted many, while her adventures at the card table brought excitement and thrills to those around her. Her passion for card games was infectious, bringing together countless evenings of fun and camaraderie. Dorothy's legacy of warmth, laughter, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Dorothy is survived by her 6 children Aline Waldschmidt of Geneva, Kevin (Ella) Waldschmidt of Frostproof FL, Mark (Lori) Waldschmidt of Winfield, Melanie (Bob) Fuller of Elburn, Joe (Stephanie) Waldschmidt of Batavia, and Neil (Melanie) Waldschmidt of Geneva; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Eugene A. Waldschmidt, son David Waldschmidt, parents, brother Francis “Jimmy” Dutko, and sister Cecelia Dutko.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva with a Rosary recited at 7:45 pm.
Funeral Prayers will be held Wednesday, May 8 at 9:45 am at Malone Funeral Home proceeding to St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva for celebration of Funeral Mass at 10:30 am with Father John McFadden as Celebrant.
Burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated.
