Dorothy "Dolly" Hiller Obituary

We mourn the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother Dorothy “Dolly” Hiller on Wednesday, September 14, 2022. She was born September 28 1921 in Flushing, NY to George and Matilda Hoag. Dolly married John Hiller in 1941. They raised two children, Gary and Alan and had two grandchildren John and Gregory.

Dolly had a rich life. During the war years she was a “Rosie the Riveter” wiring fighter planes at Grumman Aircraft. When her children were born she was the mom that was always there; whether a field trip mom, cub scout den mother or just taxi driver we could always depend on. After her children were grown she began a career in retail and managed a jewelry gift shop. She was unselfish in her devotion to family and friends and worked tirelessly for many local and charitable organizations. We will all remember Dolly for her friendly caring manner her determination and her generous spirit.

She is survived by her sons Gary and Alan his wife Anne and grandson Gregory.

She is proceeded in death by her mother Matilda, father George, husband John, and her grandson John.

We will celebrate her life as she wanted with a gathering of friends at a future date.

In lieu of flowers donations can be sent in her name to Ozanam Hall Nursing Home of Queens, 42-41 201st Street, Bayside Queens, NY 11361 or https://www.ozanamhall.org/faith-based-charities-in-bayside-ny.
