Debra “Deb” Lynn DeGroff, age 52, of Geneva, passed away unexpectedly Monday, September 28, 2020 at Delnor Hospital in Geneva.
She was born January 29, 1968, in Benton, Illinois the daughter of Paul and Barbara (Betine) DeGroff.
She was united in marriage to Robert Castillo on January 15th, 2020. Deb was employed as a social worker at the Emergency Department of Rush-Copley in Aurora. She was loved by everyone there. Co-workers said she was the most dedicated, hardworking, and loyal woman—always bringing bags of snacks, her magnetic badges, and always flashing her caring smile. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her friends, family and of course her “fur babies” Roxy and Cooper. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her husband Rob Castillo of Geneva; her mother Barbara DeGroff of Batavia; brother Darren (Lori) DeGroff of Batavia; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her dad Paul DeGroff, brother Daniel DeGroff, and grandparents.
Visitation will be held Saturday, October 3, 2020 from 4:00 pm until the time of her memorial service at 7:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38) Geneva, Illinois. Due to current health care restrictions involving Covid- 19 and social distancing, we are limited to a gathering of 50 people at a time, standards of occupancy will be upheld. To attend please be prepared to wear a mask and/or wait if occupancy standards need to be met before entering.
Interment will be held privately.
One of Deb’s biggest love were her dogs Roxy & Cooper, and Darren and Lori’s dogs Winnie and Gracie. She was such a big animal lover.
