Deborah Bray Obituary

Deborah Bray, age 79, of Geneva, passed away on Saturday, April 27 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on September 11, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of John and Dorothy Streza. She spent four of her childhood years living with her family in Trieste, Italy where she attended the American School and celebrated her First Communion.

Deborah was a devout Catholic who believed in bringing out the good in every person she interacted with. As a former Catholic school principal and teacher for over 25 years, she invested much of herself in every student and was proud to help them succeed. Many of her students returned to thank her for her instruction and guidance over the years. She treasured every conversation or sentiment her students gave her.

After she retired, she enjoyed teaching English as a second language to adults in the local area and together with Lawrence, watching their grandson whom she helped teach piano and religion. Deborah was an avid reader and loved poetry, traveling, movies, and puzzles.

She graduated from Seton Hill College with a bachelor’s degree in English. She later received her Master of Science in Education Degree from Temple University in Philadelphia.

She loved her family and tried to stay as involved in their lives as possible. She is survived by her loving husband Lawrence; children Susan Bray (Daniel Krzeczkowski) of Downers Grove and Karen Bray (Jonathan Klinkert) of Carpentersville; grandson Dominic Krzeczkowski; siblings Jennifer (John) Ebenger and Theresa (William) Hodge; sister-in-law Bonnie Bray; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Jack Streza.
