Darrell Clerk Lewellyn, age 85, of St. Charles, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2020 at Forsythe Hospice House in Florida with his family by his side.
He was born August 20, 1934 in Sullivan, Indiana the son of Lester and Mary (Clerk) Lewellyn.
Darrell proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He worked as a paper cutter for Jefferson Smurfit for 33 and a half years. His fondest accomplishments include being part of the discovery of uncharted land at the South Pole and being able to see and serve with Admiral Byrd—a famous naval officer and explorer. Darrell loved traveling—especially his trips to Alaska and many other camping trips. However, his greatest memories in life include having a Christian home with his loving wife Edie, his wonderful children, and grandchildren. Darrell was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend and will be dearly missed. He always had a smile, kind word, and joke ready for anyone he would meet.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Edie (Pike); children Robert of Haines City, Florida, Linda (Michael) Maher of Woodstock, Illinois, Kathy Lewellyn (Brummel) of St. Charles, Illinois; sisters- in-law Margaret of Woodstock and Janice Lewellyn of Anna, Illinois; and many other dear relatives and friends.
