Curtis A. Gulbro Obituary

Curtis A. Gulbro, age 82, of Geneva, went to be with Jesus on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at Greenfields of Geneva.

He was born October 22, 1941, in Spring Grove, Minnesota, the son of James and Blonda (Leidahl) Gulbro.

Curt came to Illinois in 1959 to pursue a degree in communications at DeVry University.  While living in Chicago he met Jackie Bordone, marrying her in 1964.  He cherished her, and they had a wonderful marriage of almost 60 years.  During that time they traveled all over the world and raised 4 sons.  He was a loving father, and put his family first, coaching his sons’ teams and going out of his way to be at their events.  Curt founded CSI, Inc. in Elmhurst Illinois and helped launch Nextel in Chicago, and then Executel with his son Jim in Glen Ellyn.  He was also the glass polisher extraordinaire (co-owner) of Foxfire and Copper Fox Restaurants with his son K.C., where he could often be found doing a great Johnny Cash impersonation on stage.  Curt was also a proud Papa to his 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, making sure he made every event he could and taking them on many vacations.  All his kids and grandkids looked forward to the annual birthday eve call (“You’re going to do something that you’re never going to do again…”) He loved jokes, playing cards and always knew how blessed he was. He was a kind, wise and steadfast man of integrity, and everyone was better for knowing him.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Jacklyn (Bordone); sons Jeff (Neneth Gerona) of Geneva, Kristopher “K.C.” of West Chicago, James of West Chicago, and Kurt (Bernice) of Yorkville; grandchildren Zar Gonzalez, Amanda (Kevin) Arzave, and Curtis, Jacob, Levi, Caleb, Josiah, and Emery Gulbro; great grandchildren Luna and Kayden; and many other dear relatives and friends.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Robert Gulbro and Norma Brown.
