Chester S. Haraburda, age 97, of St. Charles, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024, at The Grove of Fox Valley, with his loving family by his side.
He was born April 13, 1926, in Chicago, the son of Walter and Lillian (Fliss) Haraburda in Chicago.
Chester had a long and wonderful marriage of 72 years to Shirley. He was a devoted father to his 4 children. He was a veteran of World War II, in which, he served in the Army Air Force. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Television Engineering in 1949. He spent many years working for General Electric and Trane as a manager and salesman. He loved baseball and played on a team while serving in the Army. Chester enjoyed reading about history, especially the US Civil War, WWI and WWII. Chester loved God. He was an active member of the New Covenant Bible Church of St. Charles.
Chester is survived by his children Kent (Brenda) of Texas, Steven (Anne) of Naperville, David (Ying) of Westmont, and Diane (Stephen) Gay of Arizona; grandchildren David (Stephanie), Michael, Katie, Adam (Arielle), Elizabeth, Matthew (Jorie), Mark (Jacqulyn), Timothy, Alisa, Jeremy, Aaron, and Jamie; great grandchildren William, Alexa, Barrett, Olivia, Luca, and Jon; and many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his siblings George Haraburda, Claire Urban, and Harriet Nykowski and his wife Shirley Haraburda who passed away in 2022.
A memorial service for Chester will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 1:00 pm at New Covenant Bible Church, 4N780 Randall Road, St. Charles.
Burial will be held Friday, February 16 at 2:30 at Abraham Lincoln National
Cemetery in Elwood.
