Charlotte B. Miller Obituary

Charlotte Blanche Miller, age 87, of Geneva, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024 at White Oaks Health Care in South Elgin surrounded by her loving family.  

She was born March 2, 1937, in Elgin, Illinois the daughter of Charles and Phyllis (DeGaris) Gerber.

Growing up as a young child at the corner of Army Trail and Gerber Rds. in Cloverdale, she enjoyed singing in her father’s band “Charles Gerber and the Cornhuskers” and she loved to play piano. Her working career consisted of a variety of administrative positions, starting with the family’s bread crumb business.

Charlotte married John Miller in 1962. During their 57 years of marriage, they had two daughters: Janet and Julie. When the girls were younger, she was an active member of St. Peter Catholic Church and Young Mothers Club of Geneva. Her hobbies included genealogy, crocheting, card making. and many other homemade crafts. She organized many class reunions and was always the person to get people together.

When her husband retired, they enjoyed spending time at their home in Oregon, Illinois, watching birds and visiting with family and friends. She also attended many of her grandchildren’s activities. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who touched many lives. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by daughters Janet (Scott) Dillon of Hampshire and Julie (Dennis) Hunziker of Freeport; grandchildren Tyler Kirtley and Ben and Alyssa Hunziker; sister Patricia (Gerber) Ledbetter of Washington; and brother Alfred Gerber of Florida. She was also blessed to have many other dear relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband John who passed away in 2019.

A visitation will be held Tuesday September 17, 2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm with a liturgical wake service at 7:30 pm at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva.

Funeral Mass will be Celebrated Wednesday, September 18 at 10:45 am at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 427 W. Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale. (Please meet at the Church)

Burial will follow at St. Isidore Cemetery, Bloomingdale.
