Charles A. “Chuck” Glatczak, age 72, of Maple Park, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born March 1, 1952, in Chicago, the son of Edmund and Rose (Orschel) Glatczak.
Chuck’s life centered around his faith, his family, his love of innovating and his pastimes of shooting, hunting, and fishing. He was an active, contributing member of every parish he belonged to during his life. He especially loved the true spirit of community and love that exists at St. Peter and Paul Parish.
He had unique talents as a designer and toolmaker. He worked with his clients to define a vision for the desired result, and he would then apply his extraordinary creativity and engineering skills to design and create the perfect solution. He was particularly proud of the innovations he was involved with in the health care and automotive industries.
Chuck’s life was guided by the values, spirit of generosity and drive for excellence modeled by his loving parents, and by his sense of the plan God had for his life. As the oldest in his family, he was a leader, companion, trusted friend, keeper of history and an anchor in life for his brother and sister. He raised his daughters, Sarah and Emily, as a single parent, giving them his complete love and support.
God brought Chuck and Maryann together 25 years ago and they built a beautiful life together centered around their shared faith, their four daughters and their growing family as their ten wonderful grandchildren arrived. He was very proud of all of his daughters, and of all of the grandchildren who looked up to him as their “Grampy.” They loved his unique way of weaving stories into conversations.
When he had time available for fun, he worked to perfect his incredible shooting skills, hunted and enjoyed fishing adventures. While enjoying these, he taught his children and grandchildren those same skills and shared his love of nature.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 22 years Maryann (O’Malley); daughters Sarah Stevens, Emily Burnette, Shannon Cournaya, and Cheryl (Shawn) Dunnett; grandchildren Ashley Stevens, Mackenzie, Gracie, and Riley Dunnett, Sydney, Drew, Chloe, and Micaela Cournaya, Caeden Meade, and Evelynne Glatczak; siblings John (Rosanne) Glatczak and Carole (Dan) Ferrill; as well as many other friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
