Cathleen (Cabay) Restaino, age 75, passed away Friday, February 23, 2024, at her home in Geneva surrounded by her loving family.
She was born October 14, 1948, in Joliet, the daughter of Benedict and Helen (Mandzuk) Cabay.
Cathleen received her B.S. in Speech Pathology and Audiology in 1970 at Western University. In 1992 she graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Masters in Speech and Language Pathology. She worked in the field for over 30 years at East Aurora District #131 and Kaneland CUSD 302.
Cathy volunteered in many roles over the years, but two of her favorites were Hope for Haitians, an organization that serves the poor with housing and access to education; and being a literacy volunteer, teaching English as a second language to adults.
Cathy enjoyed playing golf in a lady’s league at Valley Green Golf Course. She also liked scrapbooking and making Christmas and Birthday cards from scratch.
For several years Cathy was a part of a Bible Study group at St. Patricks church in St. Charles. She was also a Eucharistic Minister there as well.
Cathy enjoyed traveling with her husband, visiting many places in the world, including visiting her grandparents’ home town in Europe.
She is survived by her husband Tony of 52 years; children Mark (Sara) Restaino and Kristen (Darwin) Davis; grandchildren Carter and Macy; brother Ronald (Robin) Cabay; and many other dear relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother John Cabay.
Funeral Prayers will be held Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 9:30 am at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. Burial will be held at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Romeoville, Illinois.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 4:00pm-8:00pm at Malone Funeral Home with a liturgical wake service at 7:45pm.
