Carol M. (Evans) Schaefges

Carol M. Schaefges, age 90, of St. Charles, formerly of Geneva, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Heritage Health and Senior Care in Elgin with her loving family by her side.

She was born May 25, 1933, in St. Paul, Minnesota, the daughter of William and Charlotte (Joyce) Evans.

Carol was a long-time member of St. Peter Catholic Church. While at St Peter’s Church she was a long-time member of the choir, she attended many prayer groups and participated in many of the church’s activities. She loved St Peter’s and always considered it her home.

She is survived by her children Robert of St. Charles, Patricia (Curtis) Townsend of North Aurora, William of Hines, Illinois, Thomas of Wisconsin, and Andrew of Woodstock, Illinois; grandchildren Tiffani (Jake) Berry, Matthew Schaefges, and Curtis Jr, Zachary, and Kelly Townsend; great grandchildren Bailey, Landin, and Aria Townsend; and many other dear relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Joyce Evans, daughter Catherine, and husband Richard who passed away in 1971.

Funeral prayers will be held Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 9:30 am at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. Burial will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Geneva.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 21 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home with rosary recital at 7:45 pm.
