Carol J. Vial, age 88, of St. Charles, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Dunham Rehab in St. Charles with her loving family by her side. She was born December 17, 1932 in Aurora, the daughter of Harry and Madeline (Eipers) Ladd.
Carol graduated from East Aurora High School in 1952. She enjoyed over 60 years of friendship with her 12 high school club girls.
Carol worked in administration for Barber-Greene in Aurora for 5 years and as a retail clerk for Grimm’s Drugstore in St. Charles for 20 years. She enjoyed bowling and playing cards, loved to crochet and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Blackhawks fan. Her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her family and friends, including 25 years of annual family camp-outs. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, James; three children, Cathy (Clark) Cheney of St. Charles, Steve (Becky) of Virginia, and Ronald (Karin) of Pingree Grove; ten grandchildren, John (Maggie), Scott (Anna) and Brian (Chrissie) Cheney, Ryan (Jenny), Nicholas, Rachel and Andrea Vial, Ashley, Michael and Adam Vial; eleven great-grandchildren, Wilton and Laramie Cheney, Josiah, Elizabeth, Peter and Matthew Cheney, William, Eden and Gavin Cheney, Audrey and Henry Vial; cousins, Reginold (Bucky) and Donald Reed of Rhinelander, WI; sister-in-law, Cynthia Doede of Mesa, AZ.; nephews, Tom Benfield and Doug Doede, niece, Lisa Drabek; and many other dear relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and older half-brother Robert Ladd.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 29, 2021 at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva, IL from 9:30 am until the time of her funeral service at 11:30 am with Rev. Joshua Kuipers officiating.
