Brian D. Purcell, age 66, of Batavia, passed away Monday, September 14, 2020 at his home.
He was born April 3, 1954 in Berwyn, the son of Charles and Gertrude “Trudy” (Harty) Purcell.
Brian was the co-owner/operator of Purcell Brother’s Firestone in Batavia with his brother Patrick. He was an accomplished bowler and an avid sports fan, he especially enjoyed cheering for the Chicago White Sox. Brian was a major car enthusiast and loved attending car shows. He was a long-time member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Aurora. Every year he volunteered his time to help sell Christmas trees at Marmion Abbey’s annual tree sale. He was a loving husband, father, and brother who will be dearly missed.
He is survived by loving wife of 23 years Sandra (Diehl); sons Jack of Batavia and Alexander of Oak Park; siblings Kevin (Cindy) of Naperville, Pat (Jan) of Batavia, Peggy (Dominic) Adducci of Homewood, Sharon Purcell of Chicago, Terry (Suzie) of Cortland, Tim (Sheryl) of Lake in the Hills, Dan (Johnna) of Lake Bluff, and Betsy (Tim) Gager of Kentucky; sister-in-law Gail of Batavia; mother and father-in-law James and Mildred Diehl; and many dear nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Michael.
Funeral prayers for Brian will be held Monday, September 21, 2020 at 9:30 am at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva proceeding to St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva for Celebration of Funeral Mass at 10:30 am with Father Patrick Gillmeyer OSB Celebrant.
Visitation will be held Sunday, September 20 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:45 pm with Deacon Greg D’Anna officiating. Due to the current health care restrictions involving Covid-19 and social distancing, we are limited to a gathering of 50 people at a time, standards of occupancy will be upheld. To attend please be prepared to wear a mask and/or wait if occupancy standards need to be met before entering.
Interment will be held privately.
