Blanche Clegg, age 95, of Elburn passed away Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Bella Terra with her loving family by her side.
She was born February 26, 1928 in Chicago, the daughter of John and Edith Stanek.
Blanche had a full and active life. She was a life member of the American Legion, Batavia Moose Chapter 722 and the Batavia VFW. She attended meetings and volunteered on many committees. Her hobbies were crocheting afghans for both the family and her organizations. She loved going on camping trips with her daughter and son-in-law. She also loved family gatherings. She enjoyed working large jig saw puzzles and did this by the hours. In the last three years of her life, she had developed difficulty getting around and was in a long-term care facility. She did participate in the activities and enjoyed the staff. Though she may not have remembered everyone she enjoyed the company. She will be missed by many people besides her family.
She is survived by her children Irene (Mike) Hill of Elburn, Jane (Chuck) Kaus of Oswego, Larry (Mary)Clegg of Georgia, and Kathy (John) Gabrielson of Batavia; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and many other dear relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Alice Barr and Rita Bowman, and her husband James who passed away in 1987.
Funeral Service for Blanche will be held Monday, August 21, 2023 at 11:00 am at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva with Father Jonathan Bakkelund officiating.
Burial will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Geneva.
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 20 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to a charity of the donor's choice is appreciated.
