Betty Scharpenter Obituary

Betty Scharpenter, age 97, of St. Charles, formerly of Geneva, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Edward Hospital in Naperville with her family at her side.

She was born December 7, 1923, in Goldfield, Iowa the daughter of Edwin & Hazel (Mann) Hinton.

Betty graduated from Geneva High School and has been a long-time resident of both St. Charles and Geneva.  She worked for many years as the Director of Administration at Fox Valley General Contractor Association.  Betty loved music and played the violin, cello, piano and organ.  She cared for animals especially her two cats, she loved to travel, garden, and feed and the birds in her backyard.  She was a private family woman, who loved spending time with her family and friends—especially her grand-children and great-grandchildren.  She especially loved Christmas time, when her grand-children and great-grandchildren came over to decorate and trim her tree.  She will be dearly missed by many.

She is survived by her son Brett (Cheryl) of St. Charles; grandchildren Tammie (Michael) Scheurich, Jodie (Gerald) Graham, and Lindsey (Matthew) McNamara; great grandchildren Nicolle and Caitlyn Scheurich, Ethan, Claire and Evelyn Graham, and Annalyse, Grant, Brody and Eliot McNamara; her grand dogs Millie, Sophie, Finnigan, and Rosie; plus many other dear relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and loving husband Theodore “Ted” who passed away in 2015.

A private graveside service will be held at West Batavia Cemetery with Father Jonathon Bakkelund officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Anderson Animal Shelter, 1000 S. La Fox Street, South Elgin, Illinois 60177.
