Barbara DeJong

Barbara Lou “Barb” DeJong, age 92, of St. Charles, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Brighton Gardens of St. Charles.

She was born April 2, 1928 in Glen Ellyn, the daughter of Edward and Helen (Diebold) Bremer.

Barb worked for 40 plus years as a banker at DuPage Bank & Trust. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, knitting and playing her violin.

She was an accomplished violinist. She played in the DuPage Symphony Orchestra for many years and played at the different churches she attended in Glen Ellyn, Castro Valley CA, and most recently well into her late 80’s at the Ponderosa Bible Church in Payson, AZ.

She was a woman of faith who believed in Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at a young age and lived a life pursuing knowing Him and making Him known.  She and her husband hosted many missionaries and pastors in their home and supported many missionaries and non-profit organizations throughout their life.

However, her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her family and friends. She and her husband had an incredible gift of hospitality and hosted many friends and family over the years in their home.  It brought her a lot of joy and fulfilment.

She will be missed by many and remembered with much love and affection.

She is survived by her son Scott (Sheri) of St. Charles; grandchildren Brad (Meghan), Alison (Austin) Gardiner, and Mike (Heather) DeJong; great-grandchildren Brady, Luke, AJ, Mac, and Brooklyn; siblings Shirley Eavey (sister)  of St. Charles and Glenn Bremer (brother) of Madison Wisconsin; and many other dear relatives and friends. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Joy Yohe, and husband Robert DeJong.

Services for Barb will be held privately.
