Ann Campbell Obituary

Ann M. Campbell, age 89, of Geneva, passed away Friday, January 26, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born December 14, 1934, in Glasgow, Scotland, the daughter of Robert and Mary (McPeake) Mathewson.

Ann was first and foremost, a woman truly dedicated to her family.  Whether it be her husband, her children, her grandchildren, her mother, or her siblings, she always put their needs ahead of her own. This dedication extended beyond her family, as well.  Family friends also were part of her umbrella of care.  Ann was a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Peter Parish in Geneva starting in 1955 after she emigrated from Scotland and became a US citizen.  She was active at St. Peter School, serving as a room mother and lunch lady while her children attended school.  She was also part of the Sports Boosters for many years.  Ann could also be found volunteering for many things at St. Peter’s…Food Pantry, Market Day, Food Drives, Adoration, serving Funeral Luncheons, serving Keenagers Luncheons, and as a Sacristan for weekday morning Masses.  She also volunteered her time to help serve at Hesed House in Aurora.  Her dedication to others was recognized when she was named Catholic Woman of the Year in 1990 by the Aurora Deanery Council of Catholic Women.  Ann was proud of her Scottish roots and instilled a love for Scotland in her family. She loved to go camping and be by the water. She was truly a treasure and will be missed by all who had the privilege to know her.  Ann was one of a kind.

She is survived by her children Ann M. Rea of Geneva, Robert M. (Catarina) of Sandwich, Carol E. Lesmann of Batavia, and Claire L.(Randy) Aubart of Hayward, Wisconsin; grandchildren Rebecca, Cole, and Shannon Campbell, Mary Kate and Sarah Rose Lesmann, and Jessica and Tyler Aubart. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings May O’Kane and Alex and Robert Mathewson, her son-in-law Tod Lesmann, her sons Ralph and William Campbell, and her husband Ralph, who died December 11, 2003.
