Alphonso J. Vruno Sr., age 79, of Geneva, passed away Friday, January 17, 2020 at Delnor Hospital in Geneva with his loving family by his side.
He was born March 30, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Joseph and Rose (Fromandi) Vruno.
Alphonso graduated from Chicago Technical College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. He retired as Superintendent for the Peoples Gas Light & Coke company in Chicago after 35 years of service.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years Florence (Ralston); children Alphonso Vruno Jr. of Sandwich, Victoria (Frank Kosman) Vruno of Kankakee, Joseph (Angela) of Geneva, and Vince (Caroline) of Marietta, Georgia; grandchildren Alphonso Vruno III, Anthony Vruno, Alex Vruno; Vince & Tyler Gonski; Joseph Vruno Jr. and Chloe Vruno; Dominic & Isabella Vruno; nephew Matthew Ralston; and many other dear relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 20, 2020 from 9:30 am until the time of his memorial Mass at 11:30 am at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 400 Cedar Street, St. Charles, IL 60174 with Abbot Vincent Bataille, Celebrant.
Burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated made to the American Diabetes Association, 55 E Monroe St #3420, Chicago, IL 60603 and American Heart Association 300 S Riverside Plaza, Chicago, IL 60606.
