Allan (Al) E. Bavolek, age 80, of Geneva, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2023.
Al was born December 24, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Alex and Inez (Bollinger) Bavolek.
Al was a devoted, loving husband to Mary, an amazing father, father-in-law, Papa, and a great friend to many. He spent his career and was a partner at Arthur Andersen, where he met Mary. Following retirement, he started his ‘second career’ as a race car driver. He loved driving race cars and recently cherished riding in his friends’ race cars. He loved concerts and listening to music. He liked watching movies - especially Top Gun on repeat. He enjoyed vacationing with family and friends. He was a die-hard Chicago Bears fan and loved the Blackhawks. Al was an amazing Papa and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He treasured his wife, six daughters, five son-in-laws, and 10 grandkids. He embraced every moment with them. Al will be dearly missed by all.
Al is survived by his children Jennifer (Don) Martin, Beth (Jared Thompson) Bavolek, Meggan (Matt) Dahlgren, Amy (Matt) Fitzgerald, Allyson Bavolek, and Susan (Tobias) Hogan; grandchildren Gracie Dahlgren, Breck Dahlgren, AJ Hogan, Rose Hogan, Donnie Martin, Lucy Fitzgerald, Lilli Martin, Ellie Fitzgerald, Kayla Hogan, and Olive Bavolek; Siblings Rick (Sherry) Bavolek, and Tom (Peg) Bavolek.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary, parents, and sister Cindy Sieben.
