Alison G. Columbus, age 85, of Batavia, passed away Sunday, December 5, 2021 at the Holmstad in Batavia with her loving family by her side.
She was born August 7, 1936 in Rochester, New York, the daugher of Clarence and Florence (Bartlett) Gifford.
Alison attended Honeoye Falls - Lima High School in upstate NY, Swarthmore College, and Harvard/Radcliffe College. After graduating she taught high school French for many years before switching careers and eventually becoming Director of the Rochester Housing Council. She was an avid gardner, reader and supporter of the arts. After many years residing in Scottsville NY, she had spent the last few years at the Holmstad in Batavia to be closer to her children. She was loved dearly by her family and close friends and will be truly missed.
She is survived by her children Alec (Stacey) Huff of Glen Ellyn, Anna (Todd Lewis) Heck of Geneva, Megan (Ofer) of Maryland and Adam Columbus of Canada; grandchildren Taylor, Braden, and Bryce Huff, Liam and Ainsley Heck, Fabian and Maya Lewis, Sophie, Josh, Amanda, and Ryan Columbus; and many other dear relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Roger Gifford, and her devoted husband Robert Columbus.
Services for Alison will be held privately.
