Alice “Sue” Johnston, age 87, of Geneva, passed away June 8, 2025 at Delnor Community Hospital.
She was born October 22, 1937, in Oak Park, the daughter of John and Alice (Rice) Hopkins.
Alice was married to the love of her life Jack for 63 years. She had a long and successful career as a realtor, banker, and corporate recruiter. She was an avid Chicago Bears fan. She celebrated St. Patrick's Day every year by making Irish Soda Bread for all her friends and neighbors. Alice spent many happy years at her vacation home in Abbey Springs in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her four children Deborah “Deb” (Glenn) LePla of New Mexico, Mary (Bill) Connolly of Geneva, Jean (John) Carley of St. Charles, and Michael (Michelle) of Big Pine Key, Florida; grandchildren Rachel (Nate) Helgerson, Justin and Aimee LePla, Sean (Kristyn) Connolly, Colleen (Joseph) Davis, Alexandra (Efrain) Zurita, Colin and Kathryn Carley, and Tatum and Quinn Johnston; great grandchildren Ethan, Jordan, Kinsey, Brayleigh, Brinkley, Delaney, Cormac, Malakai, and Mila Joy; and brother Patrick (Valerie) Hopkins.
Alice is preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers Jack and Richard Hopkins, and her husband Jack.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 12, 2025 from 10:00 am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2900 E. Main Street, St. Charles.
Interment will held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Anderson Animal Shelter, 1000 Lafox Street, South Elgin, Illinois 60177 would appreciated.
