Albert John “Al” Ochsner, age 86, of Geneva, passed away Friday, February 26, 2021 at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva.
He was born July 25, 1934, in Chicago, the son of Albert E. and Ann (Pankrac) Ochsner.
Al served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion and a volunteer for the Geneva History Center. Al worked at City Service Oil Company. He also started Design Merchants, a gift and decorative accessories store in Stevensville, Saugatuck, Benton Harbor Michigan, and Geneva, IL. He also worked as the Executive Director for The Chicago Gift Association in the Chicago Merchandise Mart. After retiring he was an active volunteer for the Geneva History Center and St. Peter Catholic Church. Al cherished spending time with his family and he will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Lorraine (Gass); children Albert of Geneva, Dr. Karl (Marjorie) of Scottsdale, AZ, and Laura (Keith) Evans of Aurora; grandchildren Albert, Blake, Melia, Kyra, Rachel, Ryan, and Eric. Also, a brother Robert (Sandra) of Waukegan; and many other dear relatives and friends.
Al was preceded in death by his parents and son Anton George who passed away in 1980.
Funeral prayers for Al will be held Friday, March 5, 2021 at 9:30 am at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street, Geneva proceeding to St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva for Celebration of Funeral Mass at 10:30 am with Father Jonathan Bakkelund celebrant. Virtual Streaming of the mass will be available.
Burial will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 4 from 2:00 – 9:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home. Due to the current health care restrictions, we are limited to 50 guests at a time, standards of occupancy will be upheld. To attend, please be prepared to wear a mask and/or wait if occupancy standards need to be met. We kindly ask that you immediately exit the funeral home after paying your respects to the family so that others may have the same opportunity.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva, Illinois 60134 would be appreciated.
