Zivka “Vera” Grigorow, age 85, of Batavia, formerly of Geneva, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Seasons Hospice in Naperville, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born February 9, 1933 in Yugoslavia, the daughter of Ivan and Darinka Sirotin.
One of Vera’s main passions was gardening, she loved to be surrounded by flowers. She was also a phenomenal cook. Vera had an incredible gift of creating and maintaining relationships far and near. She especially loved spending time with her family and she will be dearly missed.
Vera is survived by her children Mariana (Mark Montgomery) VanHerik of Batavia and Alexander (Karen) of South Carolina; grandchildren Stephanie (Fiancé Derek Schmitt) and Robert (Fiancé Natalie Brooks); great granddaughter Makayla VanHerik; brother Nick (Barb) Sirotin; many dear nieces and nephews; and her dog Zippy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Nick Grigorow Sr. in 2010; sons Nick Grigorow Jr. in 2013 and George Grigorow in 2017.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 29, 2018 from 3:00 pm until the time of her funeral service at 7:30 pm at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva with Father Petar Sailovic officiating.
Burial will be held privately at North Cemetery in St. Charles.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Lupus Society of Illinois, 411 S. Wells Street #710, Chicago, Illinois 60607 would be appreciated.
