Vera M (Gladding) Giese

Vera M. Giese, age 97, of Geneva passed away Tuesday December 18, 2012 at Pine View Care Center in St Charles.

She was born May 24, 1915 in West Chicago, IL, the daughter of John and Alma Gladding.

Mrs. Giese with her husband, Harvey, owned Y’s Owl in St. Charles.  She enjoyed fishing along the Fox River, spending time at the beach, and gardening. Her greatest joy in life, however, was being with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children Wayne Giese of Geneva, John (Rosemary) Giese of Jacksonville, FL, David of Batavia, Janet Verhaeghe of Montgomery, and Jim Giese of Elburn; grandchildren Kathy and Brad Giese, John (Hilary) and Jeff Giese, Stacy (Joedy) Jahns and Lisa (Frank) Krone, Melissa Simester, Alison (Andy) Peot, and Adam Verhaeghe,  Michael (Felicia), Laura and Anne Marie Giese; 10 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law Jerry Verhaeghe, daughter-in-law Signe Giese, sister-in-law Martha Gladding, brother Stanley Gladding, grandson Peter Giese and also by her husband, Harvey.

Visitation will be held Saturday December 22 from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am at the Malone Funeral Home 324 E. State St. (Rt. 38) Geneva.

Burial will be private.
