Seamus Carney Obituary

Seamus P. Carney, age 69, of St. Charles, passed away Monday, January 29, 2018 at home with his loving family at his side.

He was born June 10, 1948 in Swinford, County Mayo, Ireland, the son of James and Mae (Molloy) Carney.

Seamus was an avid sailor who loved his family above all; in fact, his hobby was the staple that helped keep his family so close.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years Sharon (Cronsell); children Seamus (Kristin) of Lake Bluff, Ryan (Karonica) of Aurora, Michael of Seattle, Washington, and Bridget (Cory) Galvan of St. Charles; grandchildren Lyla, Shea, and Mabel Carney and Addison Galvan; siblings Alice Carney of Florida and Pat (Susan) of Earlville; and many other dear relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Anne Carney.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 1, 2018 from 9:00 am until the time of funeral prayers at 10:15 am at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva proceeding to St. Patrick Catholic Church (North of Lincoln Park; West side of Fox River), 400 Cedar Street, St. Charles for celebration of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am with Rev. Msgr. Steve Knox celebrant.

Burial will follow at River Hills Memorial Park at 1650 S River Street in Batavia.

In lieu of flowers, Sharon Carney would humbly accept donations to install a memorial park bench and to plant a tree in Seamus’ honor at Mount Saint Mary Park in St. Charles.
