Robert Lane "Bob" Radcliffe

Robert Lane “Bob” Radcliffe, age 92, of Batavia, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at home with his loving family at his side. 

He was born November 10, 1925 in Oak Park, the son of Barney and Virginia (Prather) Radcliffe. 

Bob joined the United States Navy at the age of 17 in 1943 and served as a radioman aboard the USS PC 1143 that was performing air-sea rescue off Tinian in the South Pacific when the Enola Gay ended WWII.  He also served his country as National Director of Radio Free Europe during the Cold War.  After that he raised funds for Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ and St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee, WI.  Upon retirement Bob and Nancy moved to Batavia to be closer to their family.  Bob enjoyed winters in Florida and golf at Mill Creek Golf Club.  His family honors his devotion to country and will miss his love and leadership.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years Nancy (Reese); brother Paul (Sharon) Radcliffe; three children Kristy Radcliffe, Robin (Jeff) Radcliffe Kot, and Thomas (Louise) Radcliffe.  He will also be missed by his four grandchildren Robert Kot, Melissa Kot, Anna Li, and Kailee Radcliffe; and many dear nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bruce, and sister Marilyn Radcliffe Bayne.

Visitation will be held Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 9:30 am until the time of his memorial service at 11:00 am at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva with Chaplain John Reimers officiating.
