Robert L. "Ski" Kwapiszewski

May 24, 1947 ~ January 20, 2013 (age 65) 65 Years Old

Robert L. Kwapiszewski, "Ski", age 65 of Saint Charles passed away Sunday January 20, 2013 surrounded by family at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield.
 

He was born May 24, 1947 in Schenectady, New York.


Robert served our country for 26 years in the United States Army achieving the rank of First Sergeant. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, receiving the Bronze Star, Purple Heart Award and numerous other awards. After retiring from the military, Ski worked for the US Postal Service for 20 years, most recently working in Melrose Park. During his free time he enjoyed woodworking. Ski was loved by all those whose lives he touched and will be dearly missed.


He is survived by his wife of 26 years Wally (Wenner); children Chris (Vicki) La  Voie, Fred (Carla) La Voie, Barb (Dave) Almaraz and John La Voie; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Robert is also survived by many other relatives and friends.


Visitation will be held Saturday, January 26 from 2:00-6:00 pm at the Malone Funeral Home, 324 East State Street (Route 38), Geneva with a Celebration of Life and Military Presentation at 6:00 pm.


Burial will be held at a later time at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.


In lieu of flowers memorials to the Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) Service Foundation, Inc PO Box 49 Annandale, VA 22003 would be appreciated.
