Patrick Henry Collins

Patrick Henry Collins, Jr., age 90, of Batavia, formerly of Wasco, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Michealsen Health Center with his loving family by his side.

 

He was born October 6, 1926 in Roundup, Montana, the son of Patrick Henry Sr. and Mary Jane (McCanna) Collins.

 

Patrick farmed in Kane County all his life and had a great love for his community.  He was a longtime parishioner of St. Patrick Catholic Church in St. Charles.  He was a full time heavy equipment mechanic at various local businesses and finished his working years at Kane County Highway Department.  He and his wife Julia owned and operated Collins General Store in Wasco for more than 20 years.  He served as a Republican Precinct Committeeman and served on the Wasco Sanitary District Board both for over 30 years.  He was a WWII veteran and also a lifetime member of the Kane County Farm Bureau, Wasco American Legion Post and Batavia Moose Lodge.  As busy as he was, he always found and cherished time with family and friends.  

 

He is survived by his children Patrick Henry III (Lynn) of Lone Rock, WI, Darlene (Rick) Shaw of Lake Wales, FL, William (Karen) of Geneva, Ann Collins of Geneva, Joan Collins of Itasca and Chris (Hope) of Elburn; son-in-law Michael Klotz; grandchildren Christine (Matt) Busse, David (Amber) Klotz, Melissa (Noah) Augustine, Katie (Clint) Settle, Andrew (Jenny) Scott, Ryan Scott, Alyson, Nicole, Patrick and Grace Collins; great-grandchildren Leah, Jackson, Matthew, Cameron, Carter, Halle, Lincoln, Grant, Sawyer, McKinleigh, Finn and Charleigh; sisters Margaret Hoff, Agnes Holmberg and Sister Amadea; and many other dear relatives and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; devoted wife of 57 years Julia who passed away in 2014; daughter Mary Jane in 2009; and his brothers Tom and Jim and sister Jo Nagel.

 

Funeral prayers will be held Friday, September 29, 2017 at 9:30 am at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva proceeding to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 400 Cedar Street, downtown, St. Charles for the Celebration of Funeral Mass at 10:30 am.

Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Geneva.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 28 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at the Malone Funeral Home, Geneva with a liturgical service at 7:00 pm.
