Nanine T. (Thurber) Bull

Nanine T. Bull, age 84, of Geneva, passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 17, 2017.

Nanine was born February 8, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Harold and Nanine (Palestine de Renzes) Thurber. She lived with her family in New York, New Jersey, Iowa, and Germany, before settling in the Chicago area as a young adult.

Nanine graduated from the University of Chicago and later attended John Marshall Law School. Nanine was a devoted, skilled homemaker who exhibited creativity and a sense of fun as she raised her children. She and her husband Alfred raised their family in Elmhurst and Hinsdale, then retired to Geneva, Illinois. Later in life, Nanine attended Devry Institute of Technology, and graduated valedictorian of her class. She was very involved in the Democratic Party in Hinsdale and was active in The National Organization of Women (NOW). Nanine was also a devoted member of the Unitarian Universalist Society of Geneva for over twenty years. She enjoyed painting, sewing, reading (especially mystery novels), and listening to music; however, her favorite pastime was spending time with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her children Laura Bull of CA, Arthur (Lisa) of MA, and Andrew of Geneva; grandchildren Ethan Bull-Vulpe, Kathryn and Jack Bull; Alfred’s daughter Cheryl Fruechtenicht of MI; and many other dear relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her older brother Herbert, and her devoted husband of 50 years Alfred, who passed away in 2013.

Services and interment will be held privately.
