Marlene P. Gordon Obituary

Marlene P. Gordon, age 81, of Batavia, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at The Grove of St. Charles with her family by her side.

She was born October 13, 1937 in Aurora, Illinois. She was the daughter of Stuart and Edna (Jones) Smith.

Marlene was a lifelong resident of Batavia. She loved to read, and garden. She was also a dedicated Chicago Cubs fan. However, her favorite pastime was spending time with her family.

Marlene was also a girl scout troop leader, along with playing in the local women’s softball league, which was named Officer Friendly. She provided local child care in her community for many years, which she thoroughly enjoyed.

She is survived by her children Wayne (Laurie) of South Bend, Indiana, Sharon (Robert) Stratman of Batavia, and Carrie (David) Kelly of Sycamore; grandchildren Robert, Ryan, Jakob, Grace, and Georgia; and many other dear relatives.

Marlene was a loving mother, grandmother and dear friend to many who will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Stuart, and her loving husband Wayne who passed away in 2015.

Private graveside services will be held at River Hills Memorial Park in Batavia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to your local animal shelter would be appreciated.
