Laura Fender, 90, of St Charles, passed from this world on Wednesday, August 8 in St Charles.
Laura was born on January 11, 1928 in St Louis, Missouri. Laura grew up during the depression, saw her husband and brothers off to WWII, was widowed early and went to work before most women did to successfully raise her children on her own. She eventually found real happiness in a second marriage.
A lifelong vegetarian and animal lover, Laura loved all music, was a voracious reader, and a virtuoso with a crochet hook.
She is survived by children Laura Hunt, Anita (Timothy) Ranieri, Lisa Bennett and Glenn (Teresa) Orman, by grandchildren Mitchell Brown, Diann Wibben, Melissa Brown, Laura Bennett, Terry Brown, Amanda Schilling, Katherine Bennett, Richard Bennett III, Danielle Stombres, Rebecca Schultz and Matthew Orman, as well as dozens of great and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Millard West and Pearl Shular West, two husbands, Harry Orman and Joseph Fender, and thirteen siblings.
Services for Laura will be held privately.
