Kathleen McDevitt “Kathi” Kovanda, age 63, of Batavia, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at home with her loving family at her side.
She was born December 20, 1955 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Joseph and Beverly (Shipley) McDevitt.
Kathi received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan in 1981, majoring in Sociology, but worked in roles varying from treasury management to leading park district dance programs in Colorado and Illinois, and interior design consulting for clients in the Chicagoland area. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 37 years John, sons John Jr. (Julie) of Chicago, Timothy (Georgia) of Edina, Minnesota, and Michael (Amy) of Chicago; grandsons James and Charles, and granddaughter Rose Kathleen; brothers Don Bogotaitis of Plymouth, Michigan and Joseph McDevitt (Mary Kay) of Blue Ridge, Georgia, and sister Melissa (Thomas) Henaughen of Plymouth, Michigan; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Prayers will be held Monday, January 21, at 9:30 a.m. at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva proceeding to St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891Kaneville Road, Geneva for celebration of Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. with Father Paul Weberg O.S.B. celebrant.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, 799 Bennett Street (Route 25) in Geneva.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 20, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Malone Funeral Home.
