John T. Fabian, age 87, of Elburn, formerly of Nokomis and South Holland, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Delnor Hospital in Geneva with his loving family by his side.
He was born September 26, 1931 in Chicago, the son of John and Mary (Hannon) Fabian.
John proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from John Carroll University in Ohio, where he was a member of the football team. He later worked as a social worker for Homewood Flossmoor High School. He was an avid sports fan, particularly of football and golf. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Charlotte (Hajny); children Kevin, Thomas, Kimberly (Thomas) Ahern, and Jody (Paul) VanDorn; grandchildren Sarah and Grace VanDorn; great-grandson Liam; and many other dear relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Suzanne, and granddaughter Guenevere.
Celebration of Funeral Mass will be held Thursday October 18, 2018 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva at 10:30 am with Father Adrian Ladines Celebrant.
Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Geneva.
Visitation for John will be held Wednesday, October 17 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street, Geneva with a Rosary recited at 7:45 pm with Deacon Mike Zibrun officiating.
