John A Hicks

John A. Hicks, age 69, of St. Charles, passed away Monday, July 9, 2018 at Delnor Hospital in Geneva with his loving family by his side.

He was born November 28, 1948 at Wesley Memorial in Chicago, the son of Lyle and Marilyn (Roehlk) Hicks.

John, along with his family, was the owner/operator of Hicks Floor Covering in Geneva and was the mayor of Elburn for two terms.  He was a long time member of Geneva Lutheran Church and served on Stephen Ministries. He enjoyed gardening, was a great cook, and loved music, especially opera. He found happiness in nature and joy in photographing its beauty. John will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his sons Byron (Tami) of Montgomery and Kyle of Wisconsin; dear friend Carol Deal; grandchildren Nicholas, Sam, Jordan, and Bentley; brothers Joel (Sharon) of Joliet, James (Vicki) of Aurora, and Lyle of Mt. Vernon; and many other dear relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation for John will be held Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 4:00 pm until the time of his memorial service at 7:30 pm at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva with Pastor Steven Srock officiating.

Interment will be held privately.
