Joan C. Calamos, age 77, of Sugar Grove, formerly of Schaumburg, passed away Friday, March 16, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at Presence Mercy Medical Center in Aurora.
She was born April 8, 1940 in Oak Park, the daughter of Leonard and Evelyn (Gardner) Hogan.
Joan loved to laugh and she had a very kind and loving spirit. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years Angelo; children Karen (Paul) Gallois of Geneva, Nick (Kim) Calamos of Batavia, Kathy (Tim) Elleman of McHenry, and Mary Elleman of Sugar Grove; grandchildren Ann (Anthony) Galto, Mike Harper, Jesse and Paula Gallois, Zachary Calamos, Kaitlyn (Jake) Bifoss, Kristina (Drew) Johnson, Cole Calamos, Stephanie (Pat) Dolan, Jenny (Eron) Guzman, and Matt and Brittany Elleman; great grandchildren Kristina and Anthony Stauber, Victoria Galto, Aria and Emery Harper, Kaylee, Alexis, and Jackson Dolan, and Elizabeth Guzman; brother Edward Hogan; and many other dear relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 11:00 am at Chapelstreet Church, 2300 South Street, Geneva with Pastor Jeff Frazier officiating.
Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in St. Charles.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 21 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva.
