James Robert Emmett Obituary

James Robert Emmett, age 78, of St. Charles, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Delnor Hospital in Geneva after a season of medical challenges. His family loved him dearly, is proud of him and thanks God for his life.

He was born January 24, 1940 in Gary, Indiana, t he son of Robert and Jeannette (Pinkerton) Emmett. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Marian (Yanney); children Jennifer (Moses) Demmon of Tennessee and Robb (Lauren) of Elgin; grandchildren Landon Hall, Amber Demmon, and Allycia White (Nick Feller); siblings Karen Evans of Arizona and Tom (Amy Garrison) of Rhode Island, and many other dear relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother Robert James.

Jim graduated from Purdue University in civil engineering, then earned his JD degree from Indiana University School of Law. He retired after a 30 year career as a corporate attorney with BP/Amoco in Chicago.

He enjoyed taking daily care of his quarter horse for many years. He also enjoyed golf, playing the guitar, following sports, and reading. He was known for his perseverance, quick wit and humor, and his clear analysis of complex issues.

Services for James will be held privately.
