James A. "Jim" Crawford

December 1, 1931 ~ November 26, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old

James A. “Jim” Crawford, age 85, of Batavia, a long time former resident of Geneva, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Michealsen Health Center with his loving family by his side.


 

Jim was born on December 1, 1931 in Belvidere, the son of Francis and Madgelene (Fane) Crawford. He received a degree from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa and had very fond memories of his time there.


 

Jim served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.  He worked in the insurance industry for years and spent much of his career as a Vice President at The Continental Bank of Chicago.  

 

Jim enjoyed trap shooting, fishing and coin collecting.  However, mostly he loved telling stories and jokes.  He very much enjoyed life and brought joy and laughter to those around him. He will be remembered for his outgoing and loving manner. Jim loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and will be dearly missed. 


 

He is survived by his daughters Linda (Jason Fogg) Crawford of Oviedo, Florida and Maureen (George) Walrath of North Aurora, Illinois. Jim had five loving grandchildren Madilynn, Lauren, and Brooke Walrath as well as Jackson and Riley Fogg. He is also survived by many dear relatives and friends. Jim was an extraordinary father, grandfather and friend.


 

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Marilyn who passed away in 1998; and his oldest daughter Laura who passed away in 2013.

 

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 5 from 4:00 pm until the time of the liturgical wake service at 7:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home, Geneva.


 

Funeral Prayers will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 9:30 am at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva proceeding to St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva for celebration of Funeral Mass at 10:30 am with Father Jonathan Bakkelund celebrant.  


 

Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Geneva. 


 

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society 954 W Washington Blvd #305, Chicago, IL 60607 or to St. Peter Catholic Church 1891 Kaneville Rd Geneva, IL 60134 would be appreciated.
