George F. Kleinschmidt, age 69, of Elgin, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018 at home with his loving family by his side.
He was born February 24, 1949 in Chicago, the son of George and Janice (Dziak) Kleinschmidt.
George proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He spent most of his career as a maintenance worker for St. Patrick Catholic Church and was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. George also worked at Home Depot and loved the time he spent there. He was an avid sports enthusiast who was particularly fond of basketball, football, fishing, and playing cards. George loved doing projects and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and he will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife Alane (Wrzesinski); grandchildren Haley VanDyke and Brooke Graham; mother Janice; brothers Glenn, Gerard, and Gregory (Roberta) all of Chicago; in-laws Dennis (Sylvia) Wrzesinski, Timothy Wrzesinski, Marsha O’Brien, Lydia (Thomas) Korzen, and Shirl and Laura Wrzesinski; nieces Kelly Larsen and Shelby Conboy; and many other dear nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and daughter Melissa VanDyke.
Funeral prayers will be held Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 9:00 am at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva proceeding to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 6N491 Crane Road, St. Charles for Celebration of Funeral Mass at 10:00 am with Msgr. Joseph Linster and Msgr. Steve Knox concelebrants.
Interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Visitation for George will be held Wednesday, September 19 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm with a Rosary recited at 7:45pm at Malone Funeral Home.
