George Krippner Obituary

George E. Krippner, age 80, of Geneva, passed away Monday, March 5, 2018 following an extended illness.

He was born April 2, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Edward and Beatrice (Falout) Krippner.

George was born and raised in the Pilsen neighborhood of Southwest Chicago, surrounded by his extended family.  He attended grammar school at Blessed Agnes of Bohemia, where his Uncle George was the Pastor. He spent summers at Fox Lake, with his Uncle Charlie and Auntie Anna, and graduated from St. Ignatius High School in 1955. He attended Loyola University, where he met his wife of 57 years, Sheila Carrroll.  They married in 1960 and George attended Loyola Law School.  George and Sheila made their way to Geneva in 1967.  They raised five children in their home on Peyton Street.  They hosted many lively gatherings, welcoming family, friends and the friends of their children and grandchildren, into their home and hearts. George practiced law until the age of 75. During his distinguished career, two of his children and most recently, his grandson Diego, were sworn into the Illinois Bar.   He was active in the community, coaching basketball, timing at swim meets and serving on the boards of St. Peters, Marmion and the Geneva Zoning Board of Appeals. He was an avid Chicago Sports fan and spent as much time as he could at his beloved retreat in Door County. His greatest joy came from good conversations, especially with his children and grandchildren.  George will be remembered for his great laugh, his love of family and his irreverent sense of humor.

He is survived by his loving wife Sheila (Carroll) Krippner; children Kathy (Doc) Watson of Batavia, Jim (Saleha Jilani) of Pensylvania, Dan (Joy) Krippner of Chicago, Tim (Tara) Krippner of River Forest; grandchildren Diego Martinez- Krippner, Hilary Nold, Danny, Augie, and Mickey Watson, Fiona Martinez-Krippner, Sophia Ponte, Nathan, George, Brendan, Owen, and Clare Krippner; sister Viven (Ed) Michals of New Orleans; brother Ralph (Mary) Krippner of Moline; sister-in-law Maureen Carroll of Chicago; also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Larry Krippner, brother-in-law Tom Carroll, and step-mother Ann Krippner.
