Edith J. “Edie” Hughes, age 83, of Geneva, formerly of Oswego and St. Charles, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at home with her loving family at her side.
She was born October 30, 1934 in Czechoslovakia, the daughter of Alois and Julia (Zeisel) Wesserle.
She was a loving wife and always thought of others first. Edie was a devoted homemaker and cherished her time with her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and making crafts with them. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her children Michael (Margaret) of Geneva, Jeanne Morrell of Geneva, Anthony (Juanita) of Winfield, John (Renata) of Salida, Colorado, and Julie Hughes of Geneva; grandchildren Ellen Hughes, Tom Hughes, Madeline (Brandon) Bice, Katie (Matt) Orman, Anne Hughes, Kevin (Kim) Morrell, Sarah Morrell, Mike Morrell, Charlie (Jamilla) Hughes, Alicia, Matt, Sam, Maya, Lucy, and Jeannie Hughes; great grandchild Estee Hughes; sister Dorothy Ceisel of Niles; son-in-law Mitch Morrell of N. Aurora; and many other dear relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Fritz Wesserle; and her loving husband of 51 years Thomas who passed away in 2006.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 9:15 am at St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva with Father Jonathan Bakkelund celebrant.
Burial will be held privately at Risen Lord Cemetery in Oswego, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to American Cancer Society, 143 1st Street, Batavia, Illinois 60510 would be appreciated.
