Donald J. Carlson, “Fozz”, age 91, of Batavia, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Michaelson’s Health Center in Batavia.
He was born November 3, 1927 in Geneva, the son of Harry and Mildred (Stone) Carlson.
Donald graduated in 1946 from Geneva High School where he played football. After graduating he proudly served his country in the United States Army. In 1967, Donald and his wife Shirley started up Carlson’s Floors, which continues today in Geneva. He had a passion for alternative medicine, and often shared his knowledge with his friends. He enjoyed travel through the years and enjoyed his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years Shirley (Werner) of Batavia; children Lisa (Keith) Nelson, Greg (Sally) Carlson, and Karen Ebner all of Batavia; grandchildren Elyse (Logan) Poe, Brooke (Derek) Harrigan, Lauren Carlson, Ryan (Kallie) Carlson, Erich Ebner, Reid (Danielle) Ebner, and Drake Ebner; and many other dear relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 4, 2019 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, August 5 at 11:00 am at Malone Funeral Home with Rev. Glen Morden officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Geneva, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
