Dennis F. Turner, age 74, of Geneva, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.
After college, Dennis proudly served as a member of the United States Marine Corps Band, known as "The President's Own".
After 30 years of working downtown, he retired until he joined Meijer in St. Charles as a store greeter where he enjoyed meeting friends and making many new acquaintances. In addition, he was always delighted to see his grandchildren perform on stage, whether it was dancing, singing, or acting. When he was not building colonial furniture, he enjoyed spending time with family and special close friends.
He is survived by his wife BettyLou (Pollack), daughter Erin Flannery, grandchildren Elizabeth and Liam Karth, and god-daughter Aimee Pierog-Zmysly and her family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Helen, and sister, Beverly Basile.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 13 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva.
Funeral Prayers will be held Friday, December 14, 2018 at 9:30 am at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State Street (Route 38), Geneva proceeding to St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2900 E. Main Street, St. Charles for Celebration of Funeral Mass at 10:30 am with Father David Peck celebrant.
Interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated, or contributions to St. Baldricks Foundation to recognize his grandson Liam's participation in their Spring 2018 "Rock the Bald" fundraising drive for curing childhood cancer.
