Welcome to the memorial page for

Dale A. Schasker

May 13, 1934 ~ December 8, 2017 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Dale Schasker, age 83, of Geneva, Illinois, died on Friday, December 8, 2017.

He was born on May 13, 1934 in Pearl City, Illinois the youngest of ten children of Frederick and Grace Schasker.

Dale was raised in Freeport, Illinois. He attended Freeport High School and graduated in 1952.  He played on the Freeport Pretzels basketball team for all four years.  A very proud moment for him and the town of Freeport was winning the State Basketball Championship in 1951.  He attended the University of Dubuque in Iowa on a basketball scholarship.  He earned his BA in Business Administration in 1956.

Dale met the love of his life, Marilyn Axell, a gal from Minneapolis, in California.  They returned to the Midwest and were married on August 25, 1962.  Dale and Marilyn recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.  They raised their three children in the Pepper Valley Neighborhood in Geneva, Illinois.  Dale made many long lasting friendships during his family's time living there.  Dale spent his free time playing tennis, basketball, cards--he and Marilyn spent countless hours playing gin rummy-- and being quite the pool shark with neighbors and friends.

Dale went on to work as a sales engineer for many years at Weil Pump Company in Chicago.  He then moved on to manage and become president of Fiberbasin, Inc., also in Chicago.  Dale was also very active in the South Side Plumbers Association.

Dale's greatest joys in life were spending time with his family and friends.  He could put a smile on anyone's face, sparking up conversations wherever he would go. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.  He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Axell); three children, Stephen (Angela) of Sun Prairie, WI, Erika (Tom) Kenn of Alpharetta, GA, and Jessica (Kirk) Bentley of Seattle WA; six grandchildren, Mel and Maxine Kenn, Stella Bentley, Will, Gus, and Beckett Schasker.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 9 siblings, Alice, Weldon, Forrest, Beverly, Bill, Chess, Robert, Lloyd, and Joyce.
